I am Serdar Bayburtlu, a visual artist specializing in photography and a media psychologist. My work explores consciousness, mind and suspension of disbelief in the field of phenomenological psychology. I'm currently developing theoretical frameworks aimed at clarifying and examining the relationship between media and human cognition.
My photography has received international recognition, including an Outstanding Achievement” award in Photography Masters Cup, "2nd Place" in International Photography Awards and Honorable Mentions” in Prix de la Photographie Paris. Born in 1985 in Çanakkale, Turkey, I moved to Berlin after graduating from Istanbul’s Cağaloğlu Anatolian High School, where my journey in photography and video began. Upon returning to Istanbul, I pursued academic studies in Media, Photography and Video (B.A.), Photography (M.F.A.), and Applied Psychology (M.A.).
Alongside my artistic practice, I have produced visual content for national TV advertisements for prominent brands and have lectured at universities on art project development, perception, representation, and image theory.
Currently, I reside between Istanbul and Bodrum.
